Recommended demo route

  1. 1

    Start the colony

Buy the first cheap foods, place them close together, and keep the worms eating without long travel gaps. Result: First cash loop.

  2. 2

    Push production higher

Add worms, then upgrade speed, appetite, digestion, and resource production when the table starts stalling. Result: Faster loop.

  3. 3

    Open the skill tree

Spend Colony Points on active abilities and worker-style upgrades that make the colony less click-heavy. Result: Active boosts and workers.

  4. 4

    Consume the colony

Reset only when the next run will clearly pass your current wall faster with permanent upgrades. Result: Permanent strength.

Why the route works

Early income is limited more by idle time and travel than by fancy optimization. Cheap food, close placement, and regular collection create the cash flow that makes additional worms and upgrades feel useful.

Once a new worm is expensive, upgrade appetite, digestion, and resource production. Movement speed becomes more meaningful when objects spread out across the table.

Current demo caveats

  • The demo is labeled early and in active development.
  • The developer noted in comments that the demo technically ends around $100k.
  • Automation, AoE, and auto-buy style features are discussed in community feedback but should not be treated as current guaranteed mechanics.

Frequently asked questions

What is the goal of Worm Capitalist?

Feed worms, collect the resources they produce, spend cash on more food, worms, upgrades, skills, and eventually reset for permanent progress.

What should I buy first?

Keep buying low-cost food and at least one additional worm before stacking small percentage upgrades.

When should I reset?

Reset after progress slows and the permanent reward will make the next run clearly faster.
